THE COMPANY
We are a team of AI research specialists with a mission: to create a general theory of model intelligence that enables a safer and more reliable AI.
In 2022, Shriyash Upadhyay and Etan Ginsberg established Martian Learning after spending years in academic research focused on large language models. During their time in academia, they developed their own models and applications while working toward a key goal: creating a more interpretable alternative to the transformer architecture.

Humanity has, for many practical purposes, created thinking machines. But currently, our understanding is superficial, limited to adjusting inputs and fixing outputs.
The internal workings are still unclear.
This lack of transparency leads to hesitation in important applications, unreliable results, and concerns about AI's safety and societal impact.
We believe understanding this black box is essential. Our mission is to develop a general theory of model intelligence, enabling safer, more reliable, and beneficial AI for everyone.

The Martian team is a group of passionate, curious, and experienced individuals with deep backgrounds in AI, with +10 years of experience in the field of AI and NLP. We have built products that were used by millions of users, and we have worked with several of the top tech institutions in the world.
AI development is wasted if it’s unwieldy, cost-prohibitive and uncharted for enterprise and everyday users. We believe Martian will unlock the power of AI for companies and people en masse. Etan and Shriyash have demonstrated deep expertise in this field through high-impact peer-reviewed research that they’ve been doing since 2016.
